Sowers Action monitors in latest situation in Nepal frequently through our local partner and reacts immediately as necessary.  Please see below for a summary of our latest work progress.

1. 200 Units of Oxygen Concentrators Ordered

 

200 units of 2-9L oxygen concentrators were ordered from a manufacturer in China and were delivered on May 24th to a Nepal Embassy Beijing designated warehouse in Guangzhou.  We anticipate that all 200 units to arrive Nepal by the end of May.  Total expenditure on the concentrators and related freight approximates HK$ 560,000.

2. Relief aid programs executed through Volunteers Corps Nepal

An agreement was reached with VCN to execute relief aids, distributing oxygen cylinders, thermometers, protective gears, face masks and gloves to 11 medical institutions in order to protect front-line medical personnel and patients.  Total costs approximate HK$670,000.  This, along with a program previously approved to assist agricultural development and for psychological counseling, are both in a procurement phase.

3. Thrangu Monastery Emergency Relief Programs

An agreement with the Thrangu Monastery was reached to provide 2 relief programs: distributing a month-long supply of food, including rice, oil, salt and grains to 700 nearby village residents.  Total costs approximate HK$120,000.  The other program was for the distribution of 3-month supplies of similar food stuff for 3 children homes, a combined total of 60 children.  Total costs approximate HK$10,000.
